Khalid Mosque Spiritual Services

Al-Hamdulillah, Khalid Bin Al-Walid mosque is most happy to be of service to the entire community at large. Therefore, we urge all of our Muslim Brothers and Sisters to benefit from the various facilities that are operational and available for services.

Amongst the services offered free of charge, without any obligation are:

1. The establishment of the Five Daily Prayers:

Prayers are for the heart, just like water is for a tree, given to it time after time, not all in one go and then it stops. Allah has enjoined His slaves five prayers at a specific times decreed by the wisdom of Allah so that the slave of Allah may be in contact with his or her lord in these prayers.

Secondly, part of the wisdom doing the prayers at these times is so that people will not get bored or find it too difficult, which would happen if they all had to be done at once and Allah knows best.

  • Fajr – The Dawn Prayer
  • Duhur – The Noon Prayer
  • Asr – The afternoon prayer
  • Maqrib – The Sunset Prayer
  • Isha – The Night Prayer

2. The establishment of Friday Khutbah & Prayer:

Friday khutbah (prayer) is one of the main services organized by Khalid Bin Al-Walid Mosque. In fact, because many people attend this service, it is one of our main service of the week.

It starts at 1:00 pm (During fall and winter which is from November to March) and at 1:30 pm (during spring and summer which is from March to November). It consists of 30 min khutbah (sermon) followed by a prayer (between 10 to 15 min).

3.  Eid Prayer:

Eid is an important religious festival (holiday) celebrated annually around the world by a millions of Muslims (or perhaps a billion). In fact Eid means recurring happiness or festivity.

The first Eid comes usually comes after an whole month of fasting called Ramadan. This Eid is called Eid Fitr. The second Eid usually falls during during hajj season (or the annual Islamic pilgrimage).

4. Taraweeh & Tahajud Prayer:

Taraweeh prayers are prayed in pairs of two. Taraweeh prayer is usually performed during Ramadan after isha of each day. It is best that you start and finish with the Imam as the prophet (PBUH) said: Whoever prays qiyaam with the imam until he [or she] finishes, it will be recorded for him as if he or she spent an entire night in prayer.” [Tirmidi 806, Abu Dawood 1375, and Irwa Al-Ghaleel 92/193]

5. Tahiyatul Masjid – Greeting The Mosque:

Tahiyatul Masjid or greeting the mosque may be performed upon entering the masjid (or mosque). The Prophet (PBUH) stated that when one of you enters the mosque, let him or her NOT sit down until he or she prays two rakah. [Bukhari 1167 & Muslim 714]

Tahiyyat Masjid is sunnah according to the most of he scholars. Some scholars stated that  it is wajib, but the strongest opinion is sunnah and Allah knows best.
